Initialize the app & view the sample Digital Product Passport

  1. Open the Digital Product Passport module in Semantic Data Management. When you open the Digital Product Passport module within the SDMA for the first time, the setup wizard opens automatically.

  2. In the Data source stage, choose a catalog and a schema from the Unity Catalog, based on which the wizard can create sample tables. Then select Start Setup.

  3. When a confirmation message appears, your can already open the sample DPP by clicking the View sample Digital Product Passport link shown at the bottom of the setup wizard dialogue.

  4. Check that the passport displays the expected product, its aspect sections, and the expected product data inside them.

Alternatively, you can access the sample DPP using this URL format:

https://<app-host>/public/v1/dppsByProductId/<productId>

Use the product ID from the sample Shell (e.g., FM-3311-2026-014) for the <productId> path value.

The URL above uses the Databricks app’s base URL and requires Databricks authentication. To let people access the DPP without signing in to Databricks, your administrator must configure a public access gateway and give you its URL. The gateway uses a different base URL.

Checkpoint: You opened the sample DPP and confirmed that it displays the expected product and data. Next, review the configuration that defines the passport content.
