Current constraints

Data Browser uses an implementation of Apache Superset features. Currently, the following limitations are present for Data Browser, making some functionalities not (yet) available.

  • Reports and alerts not available.

  • No fine-grained access control available (only role-based access control based on the roles described here).

  • Sharing and embedding charts and dashboards outside of Data Browser not yet possible.

  • Importing and exporting dashboards not yet possible.

  • Users might encounter permission issues (e.g. "data error" or "forbidden") when using Firefox. We recommend the use of a Chromium-based browser like Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.

  • Users might encounter low performance when loading charts or dashboards depending on the complexity of the used SQL queries and virtual datasets. We recommend you to:

    • Consider SQL best practices when writing SQL statements in SQL Lab to ensure efficient and performant behavior.

    • Use the least privilege

  • Due to a license restriction the Mapbox GL JS chart library used in Apache Superset is not available in Data Browser:

    • Consequently, there are some default charts not available, e.g. MapBox, deck.gl charts.
